How Hifi.Shop came to be – and why we had to start over

A restart like this is rarely planned. Most of the time, it arises from a situation you wouldn't have chosen yourself.

In September 2025, Hifi im Hinterhof unexpectedly closed. For us as a team – and for many customers – this came completely out of the blue.

What followed was not a long analysis phase, but rather a fundamental decision: Do we continue? And if so, how?

What was clear – and what wasn't

It quickly became clear that we couldn't simply "continue as before."

The reasons were obvious:

• complex site structure across multiple buildings
  
• high fixed costs, especially due to storage areas
  
• grown processes that were no longer up-to-date
  
• At the same time, it was also clear: The team works.

The deliberate restart

With Hifi & Friends GmbH, we decided to rebuild everything from scratch:

• new location in Berlin-Schöneberg
  
• new systems for merchandise management and accounting
  
• clearer organizational structure
  
• stronger integration of online and on-site experience world.

And yet, the core remains people who have been working together for years.

Why "Hifi.Shop"?

The step to the Hifi.Shop brand was a conscious evolution.

The name stands for:

• a stronger focus on online
  
• international comprehensibility
  
• a more modern approach

Without denying our own origins.

Soft launch instead of perfection

So we are going live – but deliberately not as a "finished" project.

The shop is running, products are available, much already works very well. At the same time, there are still many construction sites. And that's exactly what we openly communicate.

Our approach here is clear:

Better to start honestly than to appear artificially perfect

Conclusion

This restart is not a break with the past, but an evolution.

Less complexity, more focus – and above all, more closeness to the actual topic again: Excellent technology and sound advice.
