LG OLED C8
The OLED C8 series is LG's 2018 OLED model, available in both 55 and 65 inches. At first glance, the extremely flat profile and subtle frame are striking. The front, visible part of the stand has an elegant curve, while the back, in addition to another stabilizer, houses the component that contains the processor and other electronics, as well as all connections (triple twin tuner, CI+ slot, 4x HDMI, 3x USB, 1x LAN, 1x headphone output, 1x digital audio output). Wall mounting is also possible, of course.
The highlight of the OLED C8 is, of course, the latest generation OLED display, which, in conjunction with LG's AI ThinQ processor, conjures up outstandingly colored images with rich contrasts. A range of image optimization programs are used to reduce image noise and smooth flat image areas, sharpen objects based on frequency, and optimize their depth effect. In addition, color data is analyzed and adjusted, and the OLED C8 is also capable of playing back material with high refresh rates (up to 120 fps). Comprehensive HDR support is also part of the OLED TV's repertoire: with HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and "Advanced HDR by Technicolor," you're perfectly equipped for all eventualities.
To access the various content and options, LG continues to provide its own operating system – WebOS 4.0 – which allows for quick navigation of the various functions and is controlled via the Magic Remote. All major streaming services and the LG App Store are, of course, available.
LG PK5
The LG PK5 is an interesting mid-sized Bluetooth speaker developed in collaboration with British audio manufacturer Meridian. The housing is robust, can be easily transported thanks to the three handles, and is splash-proof (IPX5).
The designers have placed the connection panel behind a cover on the back, where, in addition to the charging cable socket, there is a 3.5 mm stereo input. Furthermore, the PK5 naturally receives music via Bluetooth, supports aptX HD for transmitting high-resolution music files, and can also be connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. This function can be activated via the right button next to the connections; the LED illuminates in Dual Play mode. Last but not least, there is a reset button. Control is carried out via the buttons on the top of the device, and voice commands can also be sent to the smartphone or calls answered via the built-in microphone.
The PK5 features two drivers and two passive bass radiators on the outside. Together with the "Enhanced Bass" and "Clear Vocal" sound programs, contributed by Meridian's DSP experts, this results in a crisp and voluminous sound that is truly impressive for a device of this size.
