Room resonances, or standing waves, which occur in every room, prevent the optimal use of even the best HiFi systems or their subwoofers. Without corrective measures, one suffers from bloated, throbbing bass; it "booms," and one may only hear a portion of the frequencies reproduced in the music signal. These resonances are particularly stimulated in corner positions, a placement that is nevertheless suitable for deep bass sound sources to ensure good and even sound distribution in the room.
Anti-Mode 8033 Technology (TM) eliminates these acoustic room resonances by automatically adjusting both the amplitude and the phase behavior (the time alignment of the resonances relative to each other) of the interfering frequencies with precise, custom-designed filters. In conjunction with the Anti-Mode Cinema, you can indulge in the luxury of operating your subwoofer(s) in the room corners and linearizing them to the listening position at the touch of a button. This correction has a positive effect from the bass up to the mid-range, as the harmonic overtones of the exaggerated frequencies are also eliminated. The new AM8033 Cinema is an evolution of the AM8033C based on the hardware of the AM8033S (375 €), including a number of its advantages.
It is complemented by the new, improved Anti-Mode room correction calculation. The device is typically connected upstream of the subwoofer. During the very precise calibration process with 28 filters, it measures the subwoofer's behavior in the room using a series of signal sweeps between 16-160Hz, either at the best listening position or optimized for an extended seating area. This means that not only the sound in the room but also the subwoofer's transfer characteristics are improved. Measurement and calibration of the room are very easily performed at the touch of a button; no PC or similar special equipment is required. After the measurement, you can choose between 3 different equalizer filters and a freely switchable subsonic filter.
With the bypass mode, you can check the differences achieved with or without corrections at any time. This allows you to effortlessly identify the best placement for your subwoofer in the room. The highly linear measurement microphone and the power supply adapter are included in the scope of delivery.

When should you choose which 8033 model (Cinema vs. s-II)?
You should consider the AM8033 s-II model if you...
- want to consider operation with a stereo (pre)amplifier
- want to feed both an AVR output and a stereo chain (via stereo-mono adapter) to the jointly used sub
- want to connect two subs without a Y-adapter
- want to use a balanced connection to the sub (achievable via adapter)
- have a rather complicated room acoustics and desire the 8 additional PEQ filters for linearization
- have dipole subwoofers, for which the "s-II" offers two special correction filters
- value the additional 25 Hz lift mode from 15-35 Hz
- need one of the five new cut-off frequencies in stereo 2.1 mode
- desire the extended correction range of 16 – 250 Hz (e.g., for an active bass section in full-range loudspeakers)
If you do not require these usage options, you can opt for the AM8033 Cinema (295 €).
