The Television:

Since flat-screen TVs truly live up to their name and also come with all necessary reception devices, a TV can easily be placed in almost any room. The great advantages of a TV set are:
1. Immediate readiness: after switching on, the TV only needs a few seconds to display a picture.
2. A TV provides a good picture in any room.
3. Installing a TV is very easy in most cases.
The Projector:

In contrast to a TV, there are a few things to consider with a projector. Projectors usually do not have tuners, so separate set-top boxes must be connected. In addition, a screen is required. Above all, however, the room should be able to be darkened for a perfect picture. In return, a good projector-screen combination offers several advantages:
1. The picture size is almost freely selectable, guaranteeing a true cinema feeling.
2. With a viewing distance of 4m, a picture width of approx. 2m would be needed for the perfect cinema impression. For these picture sizes, the price/performance ratio and power consumption of a projector are significantly more favorable than with extremely large TVs.
3. A roller screen can also be installed in front of a window. This way, the room can be cleverly darkened.
Due to the different strengths of the individual systems, the decision should be made based on priority:
Living space situation: Can a TV or a screen be installed/placed?
How big is the room? For a small viewing distance, a large TV is often the cheaper solution. In a large room, a true cinema feeling can only be achieved with a projector.
Brightness: In a very bright room that cannot be darkened, excellent picture quality can only be achieved with a projector at night.
Viewing habits: A projector requires warm-up and cool-down times. For "just quickly tuning in," a TV is more practical. So, if you like to quickly check the news, a TV set is better. However, those who want to watch feature films or sports broadcasts will love the larger picture of a projector.
Separate home cinema: If a separate home cinema room is available in the basement and a TV is already in the living room, purchasing a projector is the best solution. No one going to the home cinema in the basement will do so just to quickly watch the news.
Home cinema in the living room: If you don't have a separate room for your home cinema and want to keep all options open, you can also operate a TV and projector in parallel in your living room. This solution can be ideally implemented with A/V receivers with 2 parallel HDMI outputs, such as offered by the Denon AVR-4310.
