The HiFiMAN Sundara has been available in Europe since 2018 and has quickly become an insider tip among audiophiles. The name "Sundara" comes from Sanskrit and means "grace" or "beauty," which is intended to aptly describe its outstanding sound quality.
However, there was criticism of the headphones, specifically their treble range, which was optimized for Asian users and sometimes sounded overly emphasized to European listeners. HiFiMAN CEO Dr. Fang Bian took this criticism seriously and made several improvements to the successor model, the Sundara Silver. The diaphragm damping, protective fleece, and perforated grille were optimized to achieve an even more open and beautiful sound, particularly suitable for long listening sessions.
The headphones feature a proven headband construction and ear pads made of synthetic leather and PE. The improved damping is achieved by the perforated synthetic leather ring of the ear pads, which is combined with a foam ring. As with HiFiMAN's premium models, the ear pads are ergonomically shaped and replaceable.
The Sundara Silver comes with a sturdy carrying case and a flexible 3-meter connection cable that is resistant to microphonics and has an angled 3.5-millimeter plug on the input side. This makes the headphones perfectly equipped for transport and use at home or in the studio.
