New 115mm Uni-Q driver: The secret to the E305 system's excellent Hi-Fi capability lies in the latest iteration of KEF's signature Uni-Q driver, originally developed for the multi-award-winning Q Series. This technology features particularly wide dispersion and sound clarity, lending the system its exceptionally natural sound quality.
Uni-Q Tweeter: The tweeter in the center of the midrange cone is vented to prevent excessive pressure buildup behind the dome, which would lead to distortion. This ensures that playback remains extremely detailed even in the critical vocal range, conveying every nuance of the original recording. With KEF's Tangerine Waveguide, the sound spreads evenly, boosting both the dispersion characteristics and sensitivity of the tweeter for a more natural performance in the listening area.
Uni-Q Mid-Woofer: The aluminum midrange cone is stiffer than conventional materials, producing the smooth and clear midrange reproduction across the entire sound spectrum that reproduces the human voice with astonishing accuracy. Together with the Z-Flex cone surround, it allows for full excursion of the cone while providing a smooth, uninterrupted surface over which high-frequency sound can travel without interference or diffraction effects. Its drive with an undercut magnet, typically only found in high-end loudspeakers, reduces midrange distortion through its symmetrical magnetic field. The resulting transparency creates a feeling of being 'right there'.
Satellites: If you want to design the leading satellite speaker in its class, you need more than a good driver. From the outset, the E301 satellite was conceived as a unique and perfectly balanced system where the crossover, cabinet, and drivers work together harmoniously.
The sound is clearer the more directly the recorded signal is transmitted. To eliminate secondary radiation and alterations caused by the cabinet, these are reinforced with bracing and damping elements to ensure sound precision without unwanted resonances. The diffraction-optimized cabinets are carefully constructed to minimize dispersion at the output, so that nothing is taken away from the sound from the driver, nor are any colorations added.
Subwoofer: The E305 system is designed for exceptional bass performance, with the subwoofer seamlessly integrated into the rest of the system, thus producing a sound like five complete loudspeakers. The frequency response and phase of the subwoofer and satellites are precisely matched so that the transition is so smooth you won't even hear where the satellite playback ends and the subwoofer begins.
With a large and powerful drive coupled to a 200mm long-throw cone, bass reproduction remains clear and unfailingly accurate even at high volumes. Based on a Linkwitz filter to minimize group delay, which would otherwise distort the bass, the built-in preamplifier guarantees noticeably purer and more accurate bass reproduction.
A sealed E-2 subwoofer delivers nimble and improved bass response without exaggeration – fast, articulate, and well-defined. Just like the satellites, the enclosure utilizes damping techniques from the LS50 to prevent unwanted resonances and radiation, ensuring tight, pure, and flawlessly controlled bass.
