Appearance and Features
As mentioned at the outset, Panasonic's OLED TV stands securely on a base. But of course, the TV can also be wall-mounted. In both cases, the discreetly integrated speakers of the FZW804 will fully impress you with their sound quality. In addition, sound can also be played via the optical digital output and Bluetooth, as well as via the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC).
To display or record two TV programs simultaneously, the TV features a twin-tuner setup. For connections, it comes with four UHD-capable HDMI inputs, as well as USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. An SD card reader, for example, to access pictures from your last vacation in large format, is the icing on the cake. The stereo output can be used as an output for HiFi devices and as a headphone jack.
Technical Details
The first glance naturally falls on the screen of the FZW804. Self-illuminating pixels, divided into controllable zones, form the basis of the 4K OLED panel. This results in impressive black levels on one hand and a contrast that convinces with natural colors on the other. Particularly dark image content is rendered by the Absolute Black Filter. The newly developed HCX processor also has a major influence on this, being fundamental to the great viewing experience. This processor improves HDR playback, brightness, black levels, and image sharpness. Furthermore, viewers can look forward to an expanded color space.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the most important HDR standards such as HDR10 and Hybrid Log Gamma are supported with multi-HDR support. (We have summarized more about the differences between HDR formats in a separate article.)
Operation
Access to apps and any connected smart devices is granted with the press of the "Home Menu" button on the remote control. The special thing about it is that you can individually pin applications and programs to the menu and sort them as you wish, so that your favorites are always directly together. The "My App" button can also be assigned according to personal preference. Panasonic has designed the TV to be particularly user-friendly, which is why popular streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Video, and Maxdome are already pre-installed.
These are, of course, just the highlights of the operation. If this is not enough information for you, we recommend our video about the FZW954, the FZW804's big brother.
Conclusion
With the TX-65FZW804, you bring an OLED into your living room that excels with an impressive picture. The comfortable operation and flexible setup make TV enjoyment a well-rounded experience, and thanks to the combination of great sound and versatile features, home cinema fans will also get their money's worth.
