Mark Levinson N°52 finds new home in Berlin

Mark Levinson Nº52 findet in Berlin neues Zuhause

Standesgemäß und artgerecht verpackt: Die No. 52

Packaged appropriately and in style: The No. 52

The excitement rose exponentially as the delivery, setup, connection, and listening appointment with the customer approached. It's one thing to read or be told about a device like the Nº52; it's quite another to see, touch, and hear the object firsthand. Our colleague Robert Schlundt, who—having been around the HiFi block countless times—found himself in such a scenario, taking on the terribly beautiful task of delivering the dual-mono preamplifier, whose analog audio section was realized by separate housings from the control unit, while also ensuring the shortest possible signal paths. Number 52 offers 7 analog high-level inputs: 3 balanced XLR and 4 unbalanced RCA, as well as a dedicated phono input that can be configured for both MM and MC operation.

The power supply prepares the incoming mains current so that any disturbances or irregularities are effectively eliminated. The internally consistently symmetrical audio circuit from input to the feedback-free Super-Diamond output stage is a masterpiece, with a bandwidth in the megahertz range. It goes without saying that only the finest components available on the market are installed. The ease of use is beyond all doubt.

As well as the technical data for the Nº52 reads, they cannot reflect how it sounds. To conclude, let me quote Robert: "...a feeling like goosebumps both outwards and inwards."
