To achieve its acoustic goals, Meze focused on the diaphragm when optimizing the headphones’ sound performance. His findings led him and his team to develop the Dual Composite Diaphragm—a combination of beryllium-coated polymer and cellulose carbon fiber composite material.
The task of absorbing vibrations is handled by the stabilizer ring made from a copper-zinc alloy, whose material selection helps significantly reduce distortion.
A lightweight neodymium magnet and copper coil are encased in a CNC-machined, highly precise aluminum frame, while the W-shaped dome is constructed from a carbon fiber-reinforced cellulose composite and can reproduce high frequencies with incredible detail, clarity, and definition.
True to the company’s philosophy, the 109 PRO can be fully disassembled and serviced as needed, extending the headphones’ lifespan indefinitely.
The black walnut wood Meze uses comes exclusively from trees with provenance certificates that have reached the end of their natural lifecycle. This protects the environment, and the product’s long lifespan results in a smaller ecological footprint.
