Contrary to my expectations, Monitor Audio not only significantly optimized the finish, but the series also differ quite noticeably in terms of sound. The "new" one plays even more harmoniously. The highs are no longer emphasized quite as much, while the fundamental tone plays even more powerfully (RX-1) or reaches deeper (RX-8). This is where the larger volume of the deeper cabinet becomes noticeable. This brings the RX series dangerously close to Monitor Audio's "Gold Series" with its rich, detailed, and musical sound – especially since the RX is also available in black and white lacquer finishes at an additional cost.
Addendum: The RX-6 has now also arrived in our listening rooms.
