New Cinema Building – why we're really getting it right this time

Neubau Kino – warum wir es diesmal wirklich richtig machen
There are projects where you quickly realize: If we cut corners here, they will catch up with us later. Our new cinema definitely falls into this category.
When we took over the space at Südkreuz, it was basically an empty loft. Plenty of space, plenty of potential – but no structure whatsoever for a home cinema. At the same time, it was exactly the chance to really do it right this time.

Room within a room – the foundation for everything

We opted for a classic room-within-a-room solution. Not out of playfulness, but because it's the only sensible basis if you want to operate several listening situations in parallel.

Specifically, this means:
  • decoupled, solidly built walls
  • sound-optimized doors with bottom seals
  • hidden cable routing
  • separate technical room
The result is a room that not only sounds good but also functions in everyday life.

Acoustics: deliberately not a "dead room"

One point on which we were very clear: We didn't want an over-damped cinema.
Our experience shows that good home cinemas thrive on a balanced ratio. That's why we deliberately focus on diffusion and controlled absorption.

Among other things, we use:
  • structured surfaces in the front area for sound diffusion
  • perforated ceiling with insulation behind it
  • carpeting for calming in the bass and midrange areas
  • wooden panels in the rear area
This creates not a sterile sound, but a room with depth and naturalness.

Technology: compare instead of believe

A big advantage of our setup is its flexibility. The cinema is designed so that we can directly compare different components.

Among other things, it allows to:
  • compare projectors
  • change screens
  • switch AV receivers
  • vary speaker systems
And all of this without conversion – at the push of a button.

The current status

The elaborate part is done: construction, structure, and wiring are in place. We are currently working on the final details such as wall panels, screens, and the complete integration of the loudspeakers.

The cinema will be fully operational in about two to three weeks.

Conclusion

This cinema is not a "showroom gimmick," but a tool.
A room where differences are not explained – but heard.
