Ready for Demo: New Sonus faber Sonetto G2 Series & Amati G5

Sonus Faber Sonetto G2

Italian legend in its second generation: The Sonus Faber Sonetto loudspeaker series crowns itself as a G2 version, making it one of the best alternatives in its class. This is also due to the fact that the Italian manufacturer uses technologies from the exclusive Suprema high-end series to perfect the acoustics of the Sonetto G2 transducers for even the most demanding listeners.

The name "Sonetto" refers to Italy's oldest poetic structure, the sonnet. This shows that these noble transducers are deeply rooted in Italian tradition and in Sonus Faber's philosophy of combining aesthetics, acoustics, and technology at the highest level. The drivers are custom-made specifically for the Sonetto G2 series.

Each individually handcrafted transducer presents itself as a complete work of art and is characterized by the craftsmanship typical of the manufacturer, combined with innovative design. As for the visual design, there was no need to break new ground. Therefore, the iconic design with high recognition value, timeless and noble, also stands for the new Sonetto generation.

All loudspeakers in the Sonetto G2 series rely on natural materials, true to Sonus Faber's company philosophy, and offer immensely sophisticated technology with the innovative cork inner chamber design, known from the luxury Suprema series, and the Camelia midrange driver, which is otherwise hard to find in the Sonetto G2 series' price range.

The members of the Sonetto G2 family rely on the acoustic properties of cork. This optimizes the resolution of mid and high frequencies, leading to a highly authentic sound reproduction overall. In addition, the well-known high-quality loudspeaker cabinets have been supplemented with a new concrete base to guarantee greater stability and better vibration management.

The Sonus Faber Sonetto G2 series consists of seven loudspeakers – two bookshelf speakers, one on-wall construction, three floor-standing speakers, and one center speaker – and can therefore be used in countless configurations.

There are a total of seven loudspeakers:

Sonetto I G2 Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker

The most compact bookshelf loudspeaker model in the Sonetto G2 collection, the Sonetto I, presents itself as an elegant option for smaller listening rooms. In these, the Italian masterpiece can unfold its full acoustic aroma. The front-facing, elaborately optimized bass reflex port ensures effortless setup and improves low-frequency performance. Even the smallest Sonetto G2 bookshelf loudspeaker impresses with its spatial and precisely presented soundstage. Visually, the Sonetto I G2 immediately identifies itself as a Sonus Faber family member – thanks to the lute shape that characterizes most Sonus Faber models. In detail, however, the layout has been elaborately optimized to reduce internal resonances to an absolute minimum. The Sonus Faber Sonetto I G2 is suitable for amplifiers with an output of 30 watts to 150 watts per channel, which shows that the compact transducer can also work well with powerful amplifiers. The frequency response of 52 Hz to 40 kHz proves its full suitability for Hi-Res audio files. Finest workmanship and material quality are traditionally among Sonus Faber's virtues. Therefore, the Sonetto I G2 is not only an acoustic delicacy but also boasts the identical craftsmanship quality as a high-quality piece of furniture. Matching loudspeaker stands are optionally available for the Sonetto I G2.

Due to its uncompromising high quality, the transducer seamlessly integrates into even the most demanding living environments. Thanks to its larger dimensions compared to the Sonetto I G2, the Sonetto II G2 achieves a bass depth that extends down to 42 Hz. Due to an upper frequency limit of 40 kHz, all Hi-Res audio applications are no problem for the Sonetto II G2. The fine and sensitive treble reproduction also brings out small details clearly and with impulse fidelity. Amplifiers with an output/channel of 30 to 200 watts can work with this Italian beauty.

Sonetto III G2 2.5-Way Floor-standing Loudspeaker

The new Sonetto G2 series from Sonus Faber offers true high-end sound quality and exquisite craftsmanship at an astonishing price. The smallest floor-standing loudspeaker in the collection, the Sonetto III G2, is a prime example here – combining astonishingly compact dimensions with enormous acoustic maturity. This 2.5-way loudspeaker features a highly developed midrange driver with an innovative membrane structure, designed with the utmost care by the Sonus Faber DesignLab in Italy. During development, every tiny aspect was considered to ultimately offer an authentic, refined, and lively sound under all practical conditions. The innovative loudspeaker baskets also speak a clear language – namely, that Sonus Faber once again employs high-quality technology in an unparalleled aesthetic optical environment. The elegant floor-standing loudspeaker has a frequency response of 38 Hz to 40 kHz and is suitable for amplifiers with an output (per channel) of 50 watts to 280 watts. The fact that the Sonetto III G2 also works masterfully with very powerful amplifiers proves that one should not be deceived by its slender, column-like appearance: beauty meets enormous acoustic performance here. The new, particularly solid loudspeaker base of the Sonetto III G2 also effectively dampens vibrations and ensures maximum stability on practically any surface under all conditions.

Sonetto V G2 Three-Way Floor-standing Loudspeaker

The middle of the three floor-standing loudspeakers from the Sonus Faber Sonetto G2 series is the Sonetto V G2 – and it truly represents a "golden mean", not too large, yet a true powerhouse from an acoustic perspective. This three-way floor-standing loudspeaker, with its high-quality technology and masterful craftsmanship, is an acoustic all-rounder. It has "an eye" for fine details, while also celebrating extreme dynamic leaps with unwavering sovereignty and demonstrating its superiority with equally precise and emphatic bass. The fact that the Sonetto V G2 floor-standing loudspeaker is capable of such superior performance is also due to the midrange driver's design, which is based on the technology of the Suprema ultra-loudspeaker. The "Camelia" membrane is known for its enormous clarity, transparency, and precision. A meticulously designed aluminum phase plug also ensures optimal sound distribution and coherence. "Hearing like live," in a captivating, atmospherically dense manner, is therefore the specialty of the Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2. Suitable for amplifiers with a channel output of 50 to 320 watts, this noble loudspeaker works with many systems. The Sonetto V G2 reproduces frequencies between 35 Hz and 40 kHz. Thanks to Sonus Faber's typical lute-shaped design, you immediately know that the Sonetto V G2 comes from the Italian luxury manufacturer. The reference-level cabinet finish also impressively documents its origin.

Sonetto VIII G2 Three-Way Floor-standing Loudspeaker

The largest loudspeaker in the Sonus Faber Sonetto G2 series is the Sonetto VIII G2 – an imposing three-way floor-standing loudspeaker where the focus, in addition to all other typical Sonus Faber virtues, has been placed on an impressively substantial and accurate bass reproduction. Not that the other Sonetto G2 family members are weak in terms of low-frequency capability, but with a lowest frequency limit of 33 Hz, the result is indeed impressive and means that the Sonetto VIII G2 floor-standing loudspeaker can optimally reproduce almost the full range of an organ concert. Amplifiers with an output of 50 to a hefty 400 watts per channel are suitable for working with the Sonetto VIII G2. Equipped with high-tech membranes, particularly high-quality speaker baskets, and basic technologies from the ultra-luxury Suprema series, the Sonetto VIII G2 is the perfect solution for audiophiles who want to own room-filling sound, finest detailing, and a masterful finish at an astonishing purchase price. Whether as a 2.0 stereo loudspeaker or as a magnificent L/R loudspeaker in a multi-channel setup, the handcrafted Italian Sonetto VIII G2 is always in the right place and, thanks to its ample cabinet volume and brilliant driver configuration, does not shy away from high volume levels in large listening rooms.

Sonetto Center G2

The Sonetto G2 series from Sonus Faber is not only the first choice for stereo ensembles, but also for multi-channel applications that meet the highest demands. This is ensured by the Sonetto Center G2, a high-quality specialist for the front center channel, which operates on the three-way principle. It features the identical innovative, highly developed technologies as all other Sonetto G2 loudspeakers. These include high-tech membranes, rigid and lightweight speaker baskets, and an extremely low-resonance cabinet of outstanding manufacturing quality. Of course, the Sonetto G2 Center is acoustically tuned with great care, so that it perfectly matches the other Sonetto G2 loudspeakers acoustically, and seamless transitions with practically 100 percent identical tonal color can be guaranteed in multi-channel operation. The amplifier's channel responsible for the center can provide power from 50 to 300 watts, and the frequency response extends from 45 Hz up to 40 kHz. It also features the iconic "lute design" of Sonus Faber transducers, a layout that has made the manufacturer's transducers world-famous because it has always ensured an enormously high recognition value.

Sonetto Wall G2

So-called "on-wall" loudspeakers, which are perfectly suited for wall mounting due to their extremely shallow cabinet depth, are becoming increasingly popular. The Sonus Faber Sonetto On-Wall G2 now proves that a flat cabinet by no means has to lead to a flat sound image. Not only does the Sonetto On-Wall G2 present itself in top form visually thanks to exquisite material and manufacturing quality, but it also achieves astonishing acoustic performance. Thanks to an adjustable swivel mount, the loudspeaker can be brought into the optimal position to enjoy the full acoustic experience. The flexibility is further enhanced by the closed cabinet design – therefore, there is practically no place where the Sonetto On-Wall G2 cannot be used. The aesthetic two-way loudspeaker shines with the well-known, legendary Sonus Faber design and unique technologies that are only available in this form from the Italian loudspeaker manufacturer.

Amati G5

The "showpiece transducer" from the manufacturer in Arcugnano/Vincenza comes from the Homage collection and is called Amati G5. This masterpiece was inspired by the Italian violin maker Nicolò Amati, and the core characteristics of Sonus Faber drive the engineers of this traditional company to the aesthetic, acoustic, and technological peak with this model.

Now available in its fifth generation, the lute-shaped cabinet immediately ensures that the loudspeaker can be identified as a Sonus Faber family member. A total of nine layers of wood with precisely coordinated grain ensure the highest quality and finest appearance. Nine layers of strictly selected lacquer provide the final surface finish.

Of course, the driver configuration keeps pace with the premium cabinet. The Amati G5 is a 3.5-way loudspeaker that can work with power amplifiers of up to 450 watts per channel. The tweeter and midrange drivers feature particularly powerful neodymium magnet systems, while a 2 x 220 mm dual bass configuration was chosen for reproducing low frequencies. Equipped in this way, the Italian acoustic aesthetic can reproduce both the deepest basses down to 28 Hz and crystal-clear highs up to 35 kHz in full splendor. While the midrange driver operates in its own closed cabinet, the two bass drivers are equipped with the "Stealth Ultraflex" system for the most effective reproduction possible.

Overall, the Sonus Faber Amati G5 represents the finest Italian loudspeaker construction, with all the finesse in workmanship and material selection, state-of-the-art technology, and overwhelming sound culture.
