Sony Projector Pre-Calibration

Sony Projektor-Vorkalibrierung

In cooperation with Mr. Raphael Vogt in Worms, we offer the possibility of having Sony projectors pre-calibrated. This eliminates serial variations and brings the projector into an optimized delivery state, from which the customer can continue working at home or make individual adjustments adapted to different lighting conditions. Mr. Vogt has been very familiar with projectors, among other things, for more than 20 years. The recently started cooperation is extremely harmonious and sovereign. The following text explains what pre-calibration means and is based on Mr. Vogt's cover letter, which accompanies the projectors he pre-calibrates.

In professional video technology and graphics, the practice of pre-calibration has been common for many years. The idea is to set up a projector under neutral laboratory conditions before it is used. This setup is done with the premise of projecting in a typical home theater. For this purpose, a signal is fed to the projector from a test pattern generator, namely one with 1080p at 23.976Fp/s as an 8-bit component signal (YCbCr) for 2-D and likewise in frame-packing format in 3-D. Calibration is carried out to the current High-Definition standard ITU BT.709. Both digital television and Blu-ray operate according to this standard. Calibration is performed at HDMI-1 input and at the aforementioned frequency. Measurements are carried out with a certified calibrated high-end color sensor and professional measuring system.

A projector pre-calibrated in this way reproduces the signal fed to it as neutrally and as standard-compliant as the device allows, within its technical capabilities. This means: The projector displays the fed-in image as precisely as possible, what the camera previously filmed and what the director approved on the equally calibrated monitor in the studio.

At home, it is now possible to operate the projector with the settings made by Mr. Vogt. The projector comes with an information sheet that shows adjustment options that can be made by the customer. If you would like to have your home theater experience optimized from A to Z, i.e., a completely calibrated A/V system, we will gladly establish contact with Mr. Vogt in Worms.
