Like the L100 Century back then, the new edition features the iconic design of the 1970s. It uses a black Quadrex foam grille and the distinctive teak veneer cabinet. Both give the anniversary model its unique look. Compared to the transducer of yesteryear, the 2021 model differs visually only by the accented JBL logo in gold and black. Further plaques with the signature of loudspeaker developer Chris Hagen are located on the front and back. The engraved serial number of the limited production is also visible on them.
From an acoustic perspective, the new models have been revised and equipped with new technology. In particular, the woofer's suspension has been optimized for greater impulse fidelity and precision, and the redesigned connection terminal with bi-wiring capability and gold-plated connection terminals also makes a high-quality impression. The L100 Classic 75 comes with a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter called JT025Ti2-4. Connected to a waveguide and an acoustic lens, optimal integration with the 125 mm midrange driver JM125PC-8, located directly below the tweeter, is made possible. The low frequencies are handled by a 300 mm cast-frame driver named JW300SW-8. The white cone is made of pure cellulose. Also located on the front are the bass reflex port and the rotary controls for HF and MF attenuation.
The loudspeakers are sold as a matched-pair system and include a set of JS-120 floor stands. The loudspeaker system is delivered in a specially made wooden case, which features references to the limited edition on its side walls.
