NOTES
Turntable

Do not use or place the product in locations that are particularly hot, humid, dirty or subject to extreme vibrations.
The product should be placed on a flat and level surface.
Open and close the dust cover slowly. When you close the dust cover, close it completely.

Pickup

The stylus is extremely sensitive. Be careful with it.
Attach the supplied protective cap to the pickup when the product is not in use.
Do not touch the stylus of the cartridge with your fingers.
Make sure that the stylus does not hit the turntable or the edge of the record.
Be sure to attach the protective cap before placing the cartridge on a table or other surface. Make sure that the stylus does not touch the table or any other surface. Otherwise, the stylus could be damaged, splinter or break.
The pickup of this product is not intended for DJs. Do not use the device in such a way that the stylus is damaged, e.g. by scratching (rubbing the record with your hand on the turntable to produce a sound).
Do not exert any lateral force on the stylus while it is resting on the record. Doing so could damage, splinter or break the tip of the stylus. The record could also be damaged.
As this product contains an MC cartridge, you will need a phono equaliser or MC transformer that is compatible with MC cartridges.
The AT-LPA2 is the most sophisticated turntable Audio-Technica has ever developed for exceptionally pure analog sound.

  • The most sophisticated turntable Audio-Technica has ever developed for exceptionally pure analog sound
  • High-precision mechanics, yet completely uncomplicated to set up and operate
  • Fully manual belt-drive turntable with two speeds: 33-1/3 and 45 rpm
  • 30 mm thick plinth made of low-resonance, high-density transparent acrylic
  • 20 mm thick platter made of high-density transparent acrylic for consistent rotational speed
  • AT-OC9XEN* MC cartridge with nude elliptical stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil) for finely detailed audio reproduction with excellent channel separation and low distortion
  • Separate control unit/power supply isolates audio components from electrical interference
  • Optical sensor below the spindle to monitor exact playback speed
  • Newly developed, high-precision carbon fiber tonearm with VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment for outstanding tracking performance and high stability
  • Highly accurate, finely adjustable anti-skating mechanism with counterweight and thread suspension
  • Two different counterweights (110 g and 130 g) included suitable for most cartridge configurations
  • Exclusive headshell made of milled aluminum with azimuth adjustment
  • Phono output for clean, direct signal transmission
  • Exclusively developed, robust and height-adjustable feet for excellent body sound decoupling
  • Included: stereo cable (2 x RCA plug to 2 x RCA plug), ground cable, 45 RPM adapter, detachable dust cover with hinge mounting, hex key (for tonearm height adjustment), white gloves (to prevent fingerprints during setup)

* Note: Due to its low output voltage (0.35 mV), the AT-OC9XEN MC cartridge requires a step-up transformer or moving coil phono preamplifier to amplify the signal.

The fully manual, belt-driven AT-LPA2 is made of transparent acrylic, combining contemporary aesthetics with extensive development experience in analog audio technology, yet is completely uncomplicated to set up and operate. In addition to minimizing resonances that can lead to noise and distortion in the signal chain, the development of the AT-LPA2 focused on a detailed sound image with crystal-clear reproduction. Here, acrylic not only offers an impressive appearance but also enables excellent reduction of unwanted vibrations and thus a particularly clean sound
an ideal material for turntables.

With its 30 mm thick plinth made of transparent acrylic and the 20 mm thick platter, the AT-LPA2 ensures outstanding stability and vibration damping, resulting in a pure, uncolored sound. In addition, the exclusively developed, robust and height-adjustable feet provide excellent structural sound isolation, and the mass of the acrylic platter ensures a consistent rotational speed. Last but not least, an optical sensor is located under the spindle to monitor the playback speed of exactly 33-1/3 or 45 rpm.

To further reduce extraneous noise, the controls and power supply of this turntable are housed in a separate unit, so that the sensitive audio components are not affected by electrical interference from the power supply and motor
a feature typically found only in more expensive models. This achieves an unparalleled low-noise performance, so you truly hear only the music from your records, no electrical interference.

The AT-LPA2 comes with a pre-mounted AT-OC9XEN* moving coil cartridge with a nude elliptical stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil) and high-purity PCOCC coils. This cartridge transmits every nuance of the vinyl sound with impressive clarity and also features outstanding channel separation. The lower mass of moving coil cartridges compared to moving magnet cartridges allows for faster response when tracking the record groove, resulting in more finely detailed audio reproduction.

The cartridge is mounted on an exclusive headshell made of milled aluminum with azimuth adjustment, which is attached to a straight, 22.36 cm (8.8") carbon fiber tonearm with VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment, specially developed for the AT-LPA2. The lightweight, low-resonance tonearm smoothly and precisely follows the record groove, and the highly accurate, finely adjustable anti-skating mechanism with thread suspension counteracts the force that pulls the tonearm inward during playback. This ensures optimal channel balance. In addition, the tonearm can be fitted with two different counterweights (110 g and 130 g, included), providing a wide selection of replacement cartridges if required.

With its modern, clean look, innovative components, excellent craftsmanship, and uncomplicated setup, the AT-LPA2 opens up a whole new world of sound
for pure analog audio enjoyment.

*Please note: The stylus of the AT-OC9XEN cannot be replaced by the user. However, Audio-Technica offers a paid exchange program for moving coil cartridges to service and replace the stylus. Furthermore, due to its low output voltage (0.35 mV), the moving coil cartridge requires a step-up transformer or moving coil phono preamplifier to amplify the signal accordingly.

Dual Moving Coil Cartridge
The AT-OC9XEN* moving coil cartridge is equipped with a nude elliptical stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil) and high-purity PCOCC coils. This cartridge truly transmits every nuance of your records with impressive clarity, combining innovative technology with carefully selected materials for outstanding channel separation and detailed audio reproduction.

*Please note: Due to the low output voltage (0.35 mV), the cartridge requires a step-up transformer or moving coil phono preamplifier to amplify the signal accordingly.

Ultimate Resonance Reduction
The high-density acrylic material of the plinth and platter is characterized by outstanding vibration damping and thus exceptionally low-noise reproduction. This allows the brilliance and richness of detail of your vinyl records to truly shine.

External Power Supply and Control
To minimize electrical interference, the AT-LPA2 features a separate control unit and power supply providing the best conditions for optimal performance. This concept isolates the sensitive audio components from power supply-related electrical interference, resulting in a cleaner, more precise sound.

New Tonearm for Excellent Tracking Characteristics
The newly developed tonearm of the AT-LPA2 is designed for precision and ease of use. With its innovative construction and selected materials, this tonearm guarantees outstanding tracking performance and low resonances for a faithful reproduction of the recording.
