Due to the low-level signals generated by a turntable, not all hi-fi amplifiers can be connected directly to a turntable. The phono preamplifier amplifies this signal so that a power amplifier can work with it. However, this can easily lead to additional noise. For this reason, the Duo was designed to deliver a warm and detailed, record-typical sound without distorting the signal from your moving magnet system. The switching power supply increases performance by switching outside the audible frequency, which results in significantly less hum; a new board layout reduces noise through surface-mounted components.

Thanks to the integrated headphone output on the Duo, you can enjoy the warm sound of vinyl all to yourself. Cambridge Audio has integrated a 6.35mm headphone jack directly into the phono preamplifier. This allows you to experience your records even when you don't have the opportunity to play them loudly. And thanks to the integrated headphone output, there's no need to turn on the amplifier to power your headphones.
