OPTICON 8 MK2
The large floor-standing loudspeaker OPTICON 8 MK2 is the unmistakable "powerhouse" of the new OPTICON MK2 series and its only three-way system. It is equipped with two woofers with SMC magnets and 8-inch wood fiber cones, as well as a 6½-inch mid-range driver, again with an SMC magnet system and a wood fiber cone. Bi-wiring is optionally possible with the OPTICON 8 MK2, allowing its woofers and mid-range drivers, as well as the high-frequency module, to be connected independently. In the driver array of the OPTICON 8 MK2, the mid-range drivers and hybrid tweeters are located between the two widely spaced woofers. This positions the mid-range and tweeters at approximately the typical ear height for seated music enjoyment. In addition, the greater distance between the woofers results in a more balanced bass reproduction. The driver arrangement of the OPTICON 8 MK2 facilitates positioning in the listening room. Above the mid-range driver of the OPTICON 8 MK2 is a DALI Hybrid Tweeter.

It includes the new 29 mm diameter soft dome tweeter adopted from the CALLISTO series and the ribbon element measuring 17 × 45 mm. Within the OPTICON 8 MK2, non-parallel partitions separate the individual drivers from each other. They reduce internal resonances and ensure significantly higher cabinet stiffness. Each woofer area has its own Dual-Flare bass reflex tube. Thanks to its size and three-way design, the OPTICON 8 MK2 offers a reproduction quality and performance that is unsurpassed by any other OPTICON model. It combines a powerful bass foundation, ample reserves even for high playback levels and dynamic precision with the extraordinary detail and clarity that results from the use of a dedicated mid-range driver. The hybrid tweeter, in turn, delights with a detailed and three-dimensional, yet also soft and
pleasing sound.

The OPTICON 8 MK2 comes with cast aluminum feet. These are supplemented either with black chrome-plated floor spikes or (if placement on delicate floors is planned) vibration-damping pads. Tools for assembling the cast feet and spikes are included.
