The DALI PHANTOM H-60 R is an in-wall speaker based on traditional loudspeaker technologies for medium to large rooms and home cinemas. Whether as the main speaker for stereo or multi-channel systems or as a powerful effects and surround speaker – its powerful two-way system is up to any challenge.
The reddish shimmering DALI woofer cone, made from a mixture of paper pulp and wood fibers, is unmistakable. The material mix gives the cone a lightweight, well-behaved, yet irregular structure, which helps to reproduce even the smallest musical details cleanly.
A powerful, low-loss magnet system ensures precise and correctly timed reproduction of low frequencies, while the ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter radiates high frequencies with the best detail resolution and spaciousness.
CONSTRUCTION & INSTALLATION
The DALI PHANTOM H-60 R brings the virtues of a traditional loudspeaker cabinet to the custom installation sector, combining compact design with excellent sound quality. The drivers are mounted in a baffle made of solid MDF, with the tweeter placed as close as possible to the woofer. The baffle, which thickens towards the outer edges and is therefore particularly stable, not only provides a solid base for the drivers to do their work, but its ribbed structure also prevents unwanted vibrations and ensures optimal integration into the wall or ceiling.
Installation is easy with the help of swivel clamps. The PHANTOM H-60 R is secured by swivel clamps that can be firmly locked from the baffle with a screwdriver and can be used for mounting surfaces up to 70 mm thick.
CROSSOVER
Every component in the crossover, specially developed for the PHANTOM H-60 R, has been carefully selected for its audiophile qualities.
The in-wall speaker also features reliable protection circuitry. This protects the drivers from potential overload when the speakers are played at very high volumes for extended periods. Since in-wall speakers are often installed to fill more than just the room they are in, the PHANTOM H-60 R is well protected even if, for example, a listener in an adjacent room briefly turns up the volume very high and the speakers would be damaged without protection circuitry. The protection circuitry acts like a fuse when too much current flows.
The wiring of the speaker drivers is designed and secured so that all connections hold securely and no annoying noises can occur. The terminals are placed directly on the crossover board to keep the signal path as short as possible. Spring terminals ensure a secure and permanent connection to the speaker cable.
TWEETER
The ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter allows the PHANTOM H-80 R to reproduce high frequencies with exceptional precision, giving the in-wall speaker impressively detailed sound.
Equipped with a ferrite magnet, the tweeter can withstand even the highest loads and can quickly dissipate heat generated in the voice coil. The front plate is shaped so that the soft dome has optimal working conditions for a wide frequency response, broad dispersion, and low coloration. It also helps to integrate the tweeter and woofer/midrange driver.
WOOFER/MIDRANGE DRIVER
A true Hi-Fi speaker should be able to create a credible stereo panorama from the audio signals supplied by the amplifier, reproduce even the finest details, and radiate the entire frequency spectrum as color-neutral as possible. The elaborately designed DALI woofer/midrange driver of the PHANTOM H-60 R masters these and many other requirements with flying colors: Its extremely stiff yet light 165 mm cone, made from DALI's typical paper-wood fiber blend, lays the foundation for excellent resolution in the midrange and precise, deep bass.
The reddish shimmering cone is surrounded by a particularly flexible and low-loss vibrating rubber surround, with both the surround and the spider that fixes the inner part of the cone designed for the greatest possible excursion. In addition, a powerful magnetic drive ensures excellent transient response, so that the cone can synchronously follow even fast impulses in the audio signal. A powerful double magnet provides a high magnetic flux density, and a 25 mm voice coil ensures very high power handling.
DISPERSION CHARACTERISTICS
All DALI speakers are developed according to the principle of the widest possible dispersion. This is because not only listeners directly in front of the speakers should experience a distinct stereo panorama, as is common with many other speakers, but also those who are to the side or further back in the listening room. This approach can be particularly well implemented in conjunction with speakers flush-mounted in the ceiling or wall. Thus, with DALI's PHANTOM series, music, speech, and film soundtracks are guaranteed to be clearly intelligible and spatially accurate throughout the entire room, regardless of the listener's position.
