HiFiMAN Serenade V2

The HIFIMAN Serenade V2 is a wireless streamer, DAC, preamplifier and headphone amplifier all in one and also looks outrageously good with its solid aluminum housing. The compact all-rounder is the result of HIFIMAN's first collaboration with the Chinese amplifier specialist Goldenwave. Dr. Fang Bian liked the result so much that the decision was made to extend the collaboration. Goldenwave is now part of the HIFIMAN Group.

Anyone picking up the Serenade V2 for the first time will be surprised by its feel and weight: it weighs just under 4 kilograms - not surprising, given that the Serenade V2 features high-quality FET operational amplifiers, a discrete low-pass filter section and Class A headphone amplification, which is powered by a 50-watt toroidal transformer and a powerful 30,000 microfarads of capacitance. For the “heart” of the Serenade, HIFIMAN relies on the superb-sounding, in-house “Hymalaya” ladder DAC - even in the improved PRO version, in which one DAC unit per channel does its work.

The Serenade V2 is a true connection miracle: an analog input (RCA) and four digital interfaces (Coax / Toslink / USB / LAN) are available for source devices. Headphones can be connected to the Serenade either balanced (4-pin XLR and 4.4-PENTACONN) or unbalanced via a 6.35 mm jack. If you want to use the integrated Hymalaya PRO to play the DAC on your home hi-fi system, there is an analog XLR and RCA output on the back of the device. Used as a digital preamplifier, it can drive power amplifiers or active loudspeakers. The volume control is analog. Mobile music players, smartphones, tablets or computers can be connected to the USB input, and the Serenade V2 can also function as a DAC or headphone amplifier: Connected to the home network via a network cable or WiFi, network players, computers and smart devices can be integrated. It is also compatible with streaming services such as TIDAL or qobuz that support a renderer in the network via a meta streaming app (e.g. Bubble, Hi-Fi Cast etc.).
