The CLG-W12 is a passive subwoofer. Its proprietary Monitor Audio bandpass design is optimized for invisible below-ground installation and incorporates an internally driven 12-inch C-CAM driver housed in a waterproof, rotationally molded polymer casing beneath the garden surface – only the domed output port of the CLG-W12 is visible.

From this small “chimney”, powerful bass frequencies combine with the clean mids and highs of the surrounding CLG140/CLG160 satellites to create a crisp, clear garden sound with full frequency response.
The CLG-W12 can be driven by a single amplifier channel at 4 ohms, with its 70/100 V line option recommended for cable runs over 10m and for adding subwoofers. In this configuration, CLG140 satellites are connected in series to the CLG-W12, one by one, up to the recommended maximum of twelve per subwoofer. For system expansion to larger garden areas, additional amplifier channels, subwoofers, and satellites can be added.
In the simplest arrangements, the satellites are connected to one amplifier channel in a mono configuration, with the other amplifier channel powering the subwoofer. Using a stereo power amplifier with 70/100 V line connection and crossover allows adjustment of levels between bass and mid/high ranges. If desired, the system can also be designed for stereo operation by adding elements to create left and right channels.
Once installed, the Climate Garden System offers a balanced, wide-open, and controlled frequency range from 30 Hz to 30 kHz in the target environment – better than many home audio systems! For operation on porches or patios, the CLG-W12 is installed in a planter to enhance the weather-resistant enclosure of Monitor Audio’s CL range with deep bass frequencies. This provides installers with additional options for custom applications.
