The Ortofon 2M Black holds its own for MM cartridges in a price range where MC cartridges are also available. There, the Ortofon 2M Black is a rare exceptional talent, captivatingly enthralling with its powerful sound, reminiscent of Ortofon's legendary SPU cartridges. It rocks! Voices are reproduced with volume and great passion. A Pavarotti never becomes a Pavarottini (although this could presumably be an irresistibly delicious yet low-calorie pastry from Italy...).
The Ortofon 2M Black Verso is mounted to the headshell from below using interchangeable threaded pins (2mm and 2.5mm diameter). This makes it suitable, for example, for many Thorens headshells that only allow cartridge mounting from below.
