Revolutionary: The new Pro-Ject A2
The A2 continues the success of Pro-Ject's fully mechanical automatic turntables. New to the A2's automatic system is the ability to select the starting point for 7" (singles) or 12" (LPs) for 45 RPM records. Pro-Ject has also extended the system to 78 RPM, allowing you to dive back into old shellac collections. In typical Pro-Ject fashion, the motor is electronically controlled.

Press "Start", and the tonearm automatically moves into the lead-in groove of the record. During playback, the automatic system is completely disengaged! And because the automatic system operates entirely mechanically - no additional electronics are required - the playback process remains completely unaffected.

MDF Main Chassis & Sub-Chassis
The new heavy MDF main chassis is made in Austria and carefully hand-painted in a luxurious eight-layer matte black finish. It provides a very stable base for the sub-chassis and reduces cavities to avoid resonances. The A2 uses a sub-chassis construction, where the tonearm, platter bearing, and motor are mounted on a separate, floating sub-chassis. This further isolates and additionally protects the most critical elements of the turntable.

Improved Automatic System
Pro-Ject has invested in a new die-cast aluminum cover for the entire sub-chassis and the mechanical automatic system. They wanted to avoid plastic parts of the original German automatic system as much as possible. This is the first time in 50 years of automatic systems that the original German design has undergone such an improvement.

Tonearm & Gimbal Bearing
The A2 features an ultra-light mass 8.3" aluminum tonearm with an improved tonearm tube. The perfect complement to the Ortofon 2M Red. Pro-Ject maintains super-fast response and all transient details with plenty of fine micro-dynamics, while the new 2M Red delivers plenty of body and musical warmth. The tonearm bearing is now made of aluminum and features a gimbaled 4-point construction with steel ball bearings from its own production.

Massless Tracking Force Adjustment
The A2 uses a new system for adjusting the tracking force. The tracking force is adjusted by turning a scale directly on the tonearm bearing. This system is not only very fast, precise, and efficient, but also ensures that the tonearm's center of gravity is directly above the bearing's center. The spring-based anti-skating can also be adjusted directly at the tonearm base.
