Every single aspect of the Planar 8's design is optimized for the best possible sound reproduction from records. This is achieved through an extremely lightweight chassis and advanced materials and techniques at the highest level. The Planar 8 comes standard with the new RB880 tonearm and the Neo PSU power supply, which features electronic speed switching with fine speed adjustment and sophisticated anti-vibration control. This ensures excellent speed stability through tight motor control. The outer frame of the RP8 is replaced by an elegant removable cover in the new model, further reducing the mass of the turntable.

Rega Apheta 3 MC Cartridge System (optional)
For 15 years, Rega has continuously refined its line of high-quality MC cartridges. We paved the way for the technology of weakly damped generators of minimal mass with high-strength unibody housings. More recently, a new level of performance has been achieved through the use of rare metal magnets. All development and advanced manufacturing techniques were combined in the successful Apheta 2 cartridge.
With the Apheta 3, a technological limit is once again being pushed. For several years, we have further optimized the "Fine Line" stylus grind, as it is also used in the top model Aphelion, and the special mounting with an installation angle of 90 degrees now allows for even more precise detail reproduction and higher musical resolution when playing records.
The Apheta 3 system has an extremely powerful neodymium magnet and a carefully hand-wound coil on an iron carrier that is only half the size of the previous model. The associated weight reduction directly leads to better tracking ability.
This generator system is housed in a completely redesigned anodized aluminum carrier, which is manufactured from a single piece and is protected from damage by a computer-calculated semi-transparent cover.
This cartridge is an ideal complement to the new Rega Planar 8 and Planar 10 models. It is available pre-assembled on these at a favorable combined price.
