High-End D/A Converter for Uncompromising Sound

With the RME ADI-2 DAC EX, RME presents the latest evolutionary stage of its multi-award-winning desktop DAC for demanding hi-fi enthusiasts, headphone lovers, and professional users. Building on the successful ADI-2 DAC FS, the new EX version combines modernized hardware, optimized protection circuits, and further improved converter technology with the renowned versatility and precision of the ADI-2 series.

At the heart of the device is the new ESS9039Q2M DAC chip, which, with even better measured values for signal-to-noise ratio, THD, and THD+N, ensures exceptionally transparent, detailed, and dynamic music reproduction. At the same time, the housing has been completely redesigned: The larger, ventilated chassis is visually based on the ADI-2/4 Pro and also provides improved thermal stability in continuous operation.

Improved Connectivity and Maximum Flexibility

The ADI-2 DAC EX focuses on modern connectivity and practical details. The new lockable USB-C port ensures a particularly secure connection and comes with a high-quality 1.8-meter USB cable. Additionally, two optical inputs are now available, which can be conveniently switched via the existing remote control.

Thanks to its versatile connectivity options, the DAC is suitable for high-quality headphone setups as well as for active loudspeakers, stereo systems, or desktop audio systems. The integrated TS trigger output also allows synchronous control of external amplifiers or other audio components.

Optimized for Headphones and In-Ear Monitors

RME placed particular emphasis on optimizing the analog output stages. The revised IEM output offers a higher output level with extremely low noise floor at the same time, making it ideal for sensitive in-ear headphones.

The headphone outputs have also been further improved and now feature channel-independent DC protection circuitry. This combines the highest sound precision with maximum operational safety in the ADI-2 DAC EX – even with demanding headphones.

SteadyClock EX for Maximum Precision

With the integrated SteadyClock EX technology, RME guarantees exceptionally precise clocking. Each device is calibrated at the factory to a sample rate accuracy of ±1 ppm. In addition, the internal clock can be finely adjusted in the menu to allow for exact adaptation to other devices even without external synchronization.

Convenient Operation and Well-Thought-Out Design

Despite its enormous range of functions, the ADI-2 DAC EX remains intuitive and easy to operate. The clear operating concept, extensive DSP functions, and high-quality workmanship make it the ideal control center for modern high-end audio systems on the desk or in the hi-fi rack.

With its new universal power supply, including active protection against overvoltage and incorrect polarity, the DAC also offers maximum reliability in daily operation. At the same time, the partial grounding effectively reduces leakage currents and helps to avoid ground loops.
