The continuous pursuit of perfect sound
The Sennheiser HE 1 is the first electrostatic headphone with Cool Class A MOS-FET high-voltage amplifiers integrated into the earcups.
This eliminates the capacitive resistance of the cable. The result: extremely impulse-true reproduction and 200% higher efficiency than any other system currently available. The platinum-vaporized diaphragms of the Sennheiser HE 1 are precisely 2.4 micrometers thin. Sennheiser research has shown that this dimension guarantees optimal sound reproduction. The gold-vaporized ceramic transducers also ensure exceptional electrical and acoustic performance. And the cable made of silver-plated, 99.9% pure copper (OFC) ensures optimal conductivity. So that you can fully immerse yourself in the sonic result of all this technology, the Sennheiser HE 1 features precision-machined earcups made of solid aluminum. The earpads are handmade with supple leather, as well as a soft, allergen-free velour microfiber mix.
Everything but compromise
The advantages of tube and transistor amplifiers – with Sennheiser HE 1 you have both.
Its vacuum tubes are connected to a spring-mounted, damped marble housing – preventing structure-borne noise transmission – and surrounded by quartz tubes that protect against airborne noise interference. This state-of-the-art amplifier is thus characterized by extremely impulse-true reproduction with the lowest possible distortion. For digital/analog conversion, the amplifier can receive digital signals via optical and coaxial SPDIF inputs or the USB input. It also processes high-resolution PCM and DSD data. Music data is converted into analog signals with the 8 internal DACs of the ESS SABRE ES9018. The parallel use of four channels per stereo side increases sonic precision and reduces distortion and noise.
