Here, aluminum was chosen as the housing material because it allows for the necessary processing precision for the three-chamber absorber. Structure and Chaos: Rear Volume and Vortex
A tidy soundstage, where the trained ear can find its way around and no overlaps interfere, requires a clean separation of low and mid frequencies. For this critical frequency range, Sennheiser has set clear boundaries using a so-called rear volume. The rear volume defines the airflow behind the transducer, with which the desired tuning is achieved.
