Tube Magic for Two – Now Even Better
The SRM-500T is the new entry into the world of STAX triode tubes. The sound is powerful and agile in the bass, with transparent and vibrant mids and highs. The new STAX SRM-500T offers improved efficiency through a new transformer with separate windings for the high and low voltage circuits and new, specially developed components (DUAL-FET) in the input stage, which further enhances the already outstanding sound quality of the SRM-006t. A new, stiffer chassis, now incorporating a lot of non-magnetic aluminum, reduces vibrations and eddy currents, providing the tubes with an even better, undisturbed working environment. You can connect your sources via RCA/Cinch or XLR. Thanks to the RCA/Cinch output, you can also loop through the signal and power other devices.
The STAX SRM-500T is the best choice for the STAX Lambda series: STAX SR-L300, STAX SR-L500 MK2, STAX SR-L700 MK2.
Simultaneous operation of two STAX headphones is possible with the STAX SRM-500T.
Driver amplifiers for STAX electrostatic headphones can be operated from the tape/record out or fixed-level output (pre out/fixed out) of a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Of course, a CD player or a turntable with a separate phono preamplifier can also serve directly as the signal source. If a purely digital source device without a D/A converter (e.g., a CD drive or a streaming bridge) is to be connected, a separate D/A converter is necessary.
Technology for good sound
- Tube output stage with two 6FQ7 (6CG7) dual triodes without negative feedback
- Signal-symmetrical circuit design. Volume/balance control via quadruple potentiometer
- Two switchable inputs on the rear panel. 1x balanced (3-pin XLR jacks), 1x unbalanced (RCA/Cinch jacks)
- One unbalanced output (RCA/Cinch jacks)
- Two headphone outputs
Note on operating voltage (polarizing voltage) of STAX headphones
Many early STAX headphones are designed for an operating voltage of 230V/DC. PRO-series headphones (which include all current models) require a higher operating voltage of 580V/DC.
In the past, driver amplifiers were offered that also provided both operating voltages. Current devices only have connections for the higher operating voltage of 580V/DC.
To avoid confusion, the connection sockets for the different operating voltages have different pin configurations.
