HANA SL MKII

The new Hana S MKII series is a further development of the popular Hana S models. Under the direction of Masao Okada-san, the design of this esteemed MC cartridge has been fundamentally optimized to achieve improved sound quality across the entire frequency range.

The S MKII models combine powerful Alnico magnets with a crosswound coil, which is already used in the Umami Blue, to enable precise and dynamic reproduction. A central aspect of the new MKII series is the conical aluminum needle carrier, which is equipped with a Shibata diamond. This combination ensures excellent tracking behavior and detailed sound reproduction due to the smooth running of the stylus and the significant weight reduction at the front stylus tip. The cabinet design comprises a black lacquered brass plate and a body with soft-feel elastomer resin coating, both of which help to prevent unwanted resonances. Inside, the pole piece, front and rear yoke and gold-plated signal output pins of the S MKII MC systems are cryogenically treated to achieve a particularly natural sound with fine resolution and deeper bass response, as with the larger Hana ML and Umami models. This additional cryogenic process changes the molecular structure of the conductive materials, giving the cartridges, which are manufactured by hand in Japan, the finishing touches.

In addition to the 0.4 mV output SL (Low) MKII pickup, the S MKII series also offers the high output model SH MKII and a special low output mono version (SL Mono MKII). All three model variants meet high audiophile demands and offer a remarkable price-performance ratio, making them the first choice in their class.
