The Meze Empyrean II consistently continues the success story of its predecessor, combining sound, design, innovation, and craftsmanship into an exceptionally harmonious overall composition.
The Path to a New Sound Ideal
The second generation presents itself as a carefully refined Empyrean – with a more modern, tuned sound profile and a sophisticated design language, without losing sight of the original's strengths. Together with Rinaro Isodynamics, the isodynamic hybrid array design has been further optimized and its performance significantly enhanced.
The goal of the further development was to bring out the finest details even more precisely while simultaneously achieving a more neutral sound signature – without losing the characteristic, effortless access to music. The result is a headphone that sets new standards in resolution and audiophile listening pleasure.
Design Meets Precision
The Empyrean II is the consistent evolution of Meze's first planar-magnetic flagship. The iconic design elements are retained, but complemented by a more modern, almost sculptural aesthetic.
The CNC-machined housing presents itself in elegant matte black with silver accents. The newly designed grilles draw inspiration from Art Deco style, lending the headphones a timeless, high-quality appearance.
Meze x Rinaro – A Perfect Symbiosis
The close collaboration between Meze Audio and Rinaro Isodynamics forms the technical foundation of the Empyrean II. The further developed isodynamic hybrid array driver unlocks a new dimension of sound reproduction – more precise, cleaner, and yet emotionally accessible.
Sonic Development at the Highest Level
The result of years of research and meticulous work can be clearly summarized:
- Higher resolution
- Greater spatial depth
- Increased musicality
Through precise tuning processes, detail representation has been significantly improved, while overall reproduction appears cleaner and more controlled. At the same time, the Empyrean II remains true to its relaxed, long-term suitable character.
The diaphragm has also been optimized in terms of stability and resilience to ensure consistently high performance even under demanding conditions.
Isodynamic Hybrid Array Driver
Inside, the elaborately constructed driver works within a fiberglass-reinforced ABS frame. Two symmetrically arranged Isodynamic Hybrid Array Drivers utilize a specially developed magnetic field of neodymium magnets to distribute sound energy evenly across the entire diaphragm surface.
The extremely lightweight diaphragm (0.16 g) with an active area of 4,650 mm² enables exceptionally precise and low-distortion reproduction.
A special feature: two differently shaped voice coils within the same diaphragm ensure targeted adaptation to the anatomy of the ear. This allows frequencies above 10 kHz to be transmitted particularly directly and precisely, while also benefiting spatial imaging and localization accuracy.
Each driver is handcrafted and individually tested.
Ergonomics and Construction
The oval-shaped earcups follow an anthropometric approach and adapt optimally to various head shapes. The result is a balanced combination of low weight, high stability, and excellent wearing comfort.
As in motorsport, the same applies here: maximum performance arises from the perfect interplay of weight, control, and efficiency. The Empyrean II consistently implements this principle.
Two Sound Signatures – Thanks to Exchangeable Ear Pads
The Empyrean II comes with two different sets of ear pads:
Duo Ear Pads A combination of leather and Alcantara ensures a balanced tuning with precise bass foundation and airy spaciousness.
Angled Alcantara Ear Pads This variant focuses on fine detail, openness, and an even airier reproduction with clear midrange presence.
Comfort Without Compromise
Thanks to a sophisticated mechanism, the headphones automatically adapt to the head shape and minimize pressure points. High-quality materials and thoughtful ergonomics enable long listening sessions without fatigue.
