A completely new experience that you won't want to miss, for endless listening pleasure. The HD 660S2 is the perfect symbiosis of innovative technology and wearing comfort, offering you a very special experience.
The sub-bass is the powerful foundation of the incredible sound
Sound enthusiasts usually don't place much value on sub-bass. They believe that an extremely powerful bass extending to the lowest frequencies impairs the quality of playback and distracts from the essentials. This is a shame, because what is more stimulating than the intense sounds of bass and percussion instruments? Did you know that the low B of a 5-string bass vibrates at a frequency of 30.9 Hz? Or that the lowest note of a concert piano has a frequency of 27.5 Hz? Especially music genres that rely on strong bass sound benefit from the sub-bass extension with a fantastic, stimulating sound.
And that's what's special about this effect. Although Sennheiser has doubled the sound pressure at the lowest audible frequencies, they were still able to achieve exceptional precision and balance in the sub-bass range as well as in the mid and high frequency ranges. This technology impressively impacts the listening experience. The consistent inclusion of the lowest audible frequencies significantly expands the soundstage and the sound spectrum. The contrast between low and high tones becomes clearer and intensifies the brilliance of the highs. The intensity of the soundstage subtly awakens your emotions.
Perfected design that you can hear and feel
The velour ear pads of the HD 660S2 are soft and comfortable. The headband and the soft ear pads are optimally adapted to the anatomy of your head and do not cause any unpleasant pressure. You barely feel them when wearing them and can concentrate exclusively on the music. The open design of the HD 660S2 ensures pleasant ventilation of the ears and is a factor not to be underestimated during extended listening pleasure.
The feather-light weight and the ergonomically shaped headband guarantee maximum wearing comfort without unpleasant pressure. The excellent workmanship at the production site in Ireland guarantees you a long-lasting listening experience of superlatives and the goosebumps feeling you won't want to miss.
Can masterpieces still be surpassed?
The HD 580 already captivated generations of sound enthusiasts with its balanced, natural sound reproduction. The HD 600, HD 650, and HD 660S are considered trendsetters for neutral, audiophile sound and share a common DNA with the HD 660S2, which is reflected in their aesthetics and sound signature. The revised voice coil of the S2, for example, now matches the 300-ohm impedance of the legendary HD 600 and HD 650 headphones. This new voice coil increases the magnetic field strength and ensures optimal impulse control.
The soundstage has also been improved, allowing for a resonance frequency of only 70 Hz. Sennheiser has succeeded in accurately controlling and directing the airflow and the total volume of air through the transducer system to the outside. The consequence is an improved impulse response across the entire frequency spectrum, due to the optimized airflow in the voice coil. All in all, all the factors mentioned, including the doubling of sound pressure at the lowest frequencies, contribute to maximum precision, speed, and highest resolution in playback.
